Frequently asked questions

Q: If I am unable to attend the class I am enrolled in, am I able to attend another class?

A: YES. The centre is aware that students may have work and family commitments, so we support students in being able to attend other classes or do ‘make-ups’ at some other time in the term. Simply talk to your teacher or ring the centre to work out an appropriate class change.

Q: I am new to yoga and I am not very flexible. Will I be able to do the yoga?

A: YES. Fortunately, Manly Yoga and Meditation Centre offers various levels of classes to support these sorts of concerns. Through consultation, students are guided into the appropriate class that will best suit their level of flexibility, fitness and age. In each class, the teacher will also offer variations on practices being taught so that each student can find and work at their own comfortable level.

meditationQ: I have done lots of yoga elsewhere and I now want to learn more about meditation to help relax and focus my mind. What do you recommend?

A: Meditation is taught in all our classes, so students can attend the class that best supports their previous experience of yoga and steadily progress into the higher levels as they become more proficient in meditation. We also teach a weekly Meditation course for students who wish to focus on this practice.

Q: I have various health conditions and have been recommended to take up yoga and meditation. What class would best suit me?

A: After consultation with a teacher, you will be recommended an appropriate class based on your health needs. As all our teachers are experienced in teaching students with individual needs, they are able to design the class to support each student. Students are also recommended to practice appropriate yoga techniques in their daily lives. Manly Yoga and Meditation Centre has a large range of yoga books and CDs to help students in their home practices. In some cases, a one-to-one consultation is initially needed.
